The owners asked the designer to bring the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Martinique banana leaf wallpaper to the pool bathroom. Replicating the look required cutting out the leaf design and floating it on the wall painted in the wallpaper design’s background color. The home’s original Crane sink is attached to Ann Sacks tile. MODERN MEETS TRADITIONAL

WOODCRAFT
To respect the character of the existing dining room, the designer kept the traditional wainscoting. Three sides of the kitchen island, as seen from the dining room, are detailed to match the painted wood paneling used in the adjacent dining space. The other side is finished in the same natural material as the kitchen cabinets, creating a clear cohesive connection between the rooms. The flooring is mixed-grain American white oak. ARCH-ITECTURE
Wainscoting clads an alcove in the master bath containing a tub from Victoria + Albert. The Waterworks tile flooring found here was inspired by the color and irregular shape of the basalt tile used in the foyer, solarium and terrace. (Tour the home.)
