LONG MARBLE BLACK ISLAND & THARP WHITE CABINETRY

Anchoring one side of the great room of a Sedalia residence, a kitchen features white cabinetry, fabricated by Tharp Cabinet Company, to play off the stonework of the architecture. Designers and firm principals Miranda Cullen and Devon Tobin capped a 13-foot-long island with a PentalQuartz countertop and selected bar chairs and stools by Orient Express Furniture. SLEEK BLUE KITCHEN CABINET INTERIORS

In a departure from the stylishly updated Craftsman style that defines the rest of a Huntington Beach home by architect Jeffrey A. Dahl, the kitchen is sleekly modern, sporting navy blue Poliform cabinetry and back-painted backsplash tiles by Concept Studio. Colorful layers are added to the lively kitchen by covering the vent hood with Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s Darya Ikat for Schumacher. Counter chairs by Ballard Designs are upholstered with Zarafshan by Carleton V Ltd. on the backs and Portico Stripe by Rose Cumming on the fronts. A graphic black-and-white palette makes for an eye-catching kitchen inside a Seattle home renovated by designer Jules Thomas and builder Klaus Toth. Seattle Cabinet & Design fabricated the glass-fronted lacquered cabinetry, which features bronze-and-nickel trim by Metal Solutions. The understated marble countertops are from Architectural Stone Workes and the Ann Sacks backsplash is custom-made. A MARBLED WET BAR FEATURING IRON MOUNTAIN PAINTED CABINETS

The designer breathed new life into an existing wet bar by painting the cabinets with Benjamin Moore’s Iron Mountain and replacing the existing countertop with soapstone from Decorum Architectural Stone in a wax finish, making it soft to the touch. The pool house’s fun interior is geared for the kids, says Post. The bean bag-style channeled sofa, chair and ottoman from Ligne Roset are clad in striking Knoll metallic vinyl, complemented with splashes of blue in pillows, painted high-gloss cabinets and Douglas Fanning LEDlight blades hung from the ceiling. Relocated from a windowless room in the center of the house, the new kitchen is fitted in Italian Snaidero USA cabinets sheathed in teak. A NanaWall folding glass wall system opens the space. Adjustable Zuo Modern barstools sit at the custom-fabricated stainless steel countertop. Intended as a space that can be both elegant and casual, the kitchen boasts custom black Regency-style cabinets with P.E. Guerin pulls from Clyde Hardware Co. Marble counters with custom-edge details rim the room, and fixtures from Vaughan Designs in New York light the walnut island.
