Bring On The Southern Hospitality With Cotton & Quill’s New Tabletop Line

Details

Known for their vibrant colors and bold patterns, Birmingham-based artist and designer Mary Catherine Folmar’s fabrics and wallpapers are sold as far south as Santo Domingo and as far north as Nantucket.

Her extensive travels have informed an aesthetic that’s urbane and worldly, yet still undoubtedly Southern. Cotton & Quill’s latest lineup, Veranda, draws upon Folmar’s recent experiences building a country house in Andalusia, Alabama.

Turtle shells, swaying cattails, faux bois and fern trellis are among the hand-illustrated patterns she’s rendered in rich shades like burnt olive, greenery and acacia. Still, “I can customize to any color by Pantone or Benjamin Moore,” Folmar assures.

Core to the collection is a maximalist motif anchored by pineapples, an enduring symbol of Southern hospitality.
