PICNIC IN TALL GRASS ARTWORK PHOTO: COURTESY LISA GOLIGHTLY

For Portland, Oregon-based artist Lisa Golightly, painting is a method of storytelling, and high-gloss enamel is the vehicle through which she creates her calm yet captivating narratives that invite viewers into the intimate moments portrayed in her work. Using found photographs as inspiration for her paintings, Golightly depicts casual social interactions and scenes that she can relate to personally, even though she doesn’t quite know the figures pictured. Shown is her work Picnic in Tall Grass, which inspires us to imagine a casual outing amongst friends who were caught unaware in a moment of repose.
