A conduit of both old and new, The Biltmore holds an illustrious history since its grand opening in 1926, rich with celebrity visits, a storied wartime past serving as a hospital, and, as of late, a renovation to its lobby and 273 rooms, ensuring it remains a lauded landmark. Originally imagined by architects Leonard Schultze and S. Fullerton Weaver with developer George Merrick, the hotel turned to local firms D’Shakil Designs and Studio 5 Design + Architecture to devise a decorating scheme as luxurious as the resort itself. The elegant look showcases seafoam and ultramarine hues against grandiose columns and barrel-vaulted ceilings, while tufted sofas rest atop medallion-patterned rugs.
