Callie Jones and Julia Li—previously of Jessica Silverman Gallery and the Asian Art Museum, respectively—have joined forces on a new contemporary gallery in historic Ghirardelli Square. “We immediately connected,” Jones recalls of meeting Li. “As an artist herself, I knew she was uniquely positioned to champion artists here with me in the Bay Area.”

Featuring emerging as well as established creatives, the duo hopes that Col Gallery is inviting to first-time buyers and seasoned collectors alike. It opened with “Becoming,” a cross-generational exhibition of women abstractionists. The shows change about every five weeks, with Francisco Moreno’s paintings occupying the space in January.

“All of the artists we present are ones we believe in—many of whom we have personally collected,” Jones notes. “Also, most of the artists we are working with have not previously exhibited in San Francisco, so we are extremely excited to be able to share their work here.”
