If you missed out on The Museum of Ice Cream in L.A., you’re going to want to listen up.
Oh Happy Day is delivering what is sure to be the next colorful experience to rock your Insta feed.
The party lifestyle and design site is bringing its celebratory expertise to a 12,000-square-foot pop-up in San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood with the Color Factory. The display — featuring 15 site-specific works by artists and collaborators — opens Aug. 1 and runs through the end of the month.
[UPDATE: On Aug. 2, Color Factory announced tickets for the experience already sold out; however, the pop-up will be extended through September. Interested parties should sign up for the email list to get access to tickets when they go on sale.]
Highlights include a giant yellow ball pit filled with 207,000 balls, a 7-foot lazy Susan with colorful treats for visitors to enjoy, a glass-walled balloon room, and a confetti room that simulates life inside a rainbow snow globe.
But the experience doesn’t end there.
Color Factory goes the extra mile by providing visitors a map of 17 color surprises scattered throughout the city. Destinations include Boba Guys, which serves up a mean pink drink, and Moth & Dagger tattoo parlor, where visitors can get a custom temporary tattoo.
The pop-up is pretty hard to miss, seeing as Oh Happy Day painted the town red — and purple, and yellow, and pink, and blue, and green. The facade of the Color Factory building at 575 Sutter Street has candy stripes of every color.
Jordan Ferney, founder and chief happy officer at Oh Happy Day, dedicated months to finding the perfect location for the colorful experience, enlisting the help of artist Leah Rosenberg and designer Erin Jang to bring her rainbow dream to fruition.
Other collaborators include Jacob Dahlgren, Tom Stayte, Geronimo Balloons, Tosha Stimage, Andrew Neyer & Andy J. Miller, Jessica Hische, Carissa Potter, Randi Brookman Harris, and Stanton Jones.
“We’ve brought together this talented group of artists and creatives, with a deep love for color, to make these delightful experiences,” Ferney says.
Color Factory is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., except on Wednesdays. Tickets are $32.
“I’m so excited to share Color Factory with the world,” says Ferney, who encourages visitors of all ages. “So, put on your favorite hue and come lose yourself in 10,000 colored ribbons, sink into a giant yellow ball pit, catch some rainbows, smell colorful memories, and taste a spectrum of San Francisco treats.”
