After 11 years at the San Francisco Design Center, Jeff Holt and Peter West’s showroom Hewn (above) is now situated down the block on Kansas Street. At the 10,000-square-foot venue, “vast sight lines create a feeling of openness and accessibility,” Holt says. With the move came the addition of products from Transparent Atelier, Parete and Martyn Lawrence Bullard as well as the expansion of the HewnX Collection (upholstered pieces, custom plaster designs and lighting). Heading north to Healdsburg, Sklo’s trade showroom (below) is buzzing. Founded by Pavel Hanousek and husband-and-wife design team Paul Pavlak and Karen Gilbert, the company designs and prototypes its handblown glass lighting and objects just a few blocks from Healdsburg Plaza. Manufacturing takes place in the Czech Republic, “a country with a centuries-old craft tradition,” Gilbert says. The resulting products combine highly skilled techniques with sculptural forms.
