5 Design Trends From Focus/23 To Refresh Your Home

Details

Luxe is embracing the vibrant pulse of the design world this fall, when innovation and inspiration converge on the international stage. With Maison&Objet under our belts, we headed to London Design Festival, where we sought residential trends from Focus/23. Hosted by Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour from September 18-22, 2023, the highly anticipated show brought together top talent and leading brands to showcase products, take in workshops, and discuss the future of the industry. Here are five home trends from Focus/23 that promise to spice up your interiors.

Home Décor Trends From Focus/23

1. Chic Geo-African Charm

African-inspired design stirs a resurgence of animal prints, from giraffe motifs to subtle geometric patterns. Hints of cork and raffia add tactile charm, while matte paint finishes in deeps reds and dusky blues enhance the natural texture of rich terracotta. Bring this look into your home with a statement piece like Porta Romana’s Zande Lamp in Indian Red, or boldly mix embroidered fabrics and large-scale ikats, like pieces from the Irisa collection by Osborne & Little.

2. Orient-Inspired Opulence

Inspired by East Asian design, this trend is driven by natural materials and a neutral color palette, with hints of metallic and gilded gold accentuating textiles with traditional Japanese motifs like birds and bamboo. Blending the scale and size of furnishings also evokes a visually diverse yet harmonious atmosphere. Get the look at home with curtains from Élitis’ Éphémère collection that mimic a light and airy room divider, or with pieces from the DUO Collection by Ceccotti Collezioni and Poltrona Frau.

3. Abstract Art Revivals

Rediscover the early days of modern art movements. This trend is characterized by bold shapes, striking color palettes and seamless architectural forms that capture the vivacity of an industrialized era. Emulate the trend at home with edgy furnishings, like this Pierre Frey chair or the Selce coffee table from Gallotti&Radice.

4. Playful Colors + Patterns That Spark Joy

The best of both worlds, this trend is marked by vibrant hues and unexpected patterns. If you think two prints or colors may not work together—think again! This trend throws out the rulebook and gives permission to mix and match. Energize your home with patterns, colors, and prints that spark joy, like this colorful made-to-order checked rug from Schumacher.

5. Rural Living With A Fresh Twist

Revisit the charm of country living with a fresh twist. This trend emphasizes classic silhouettes and shapes while bringing natural elements indoors. Flora and fauna motifs reign supreme on traditional vases and lamp bases, while chintz and chinoiserie wallcoverings add refreshing romantic charm.
