Inside A Los Angeles Shop For Mediterranean Design Lovers

Donna Lennard, owner of New York’s popular il Buco restaurants, has brought her home decor boutique to Los Angeles.

In Culver City shopping destination Platform, il Buco Vita brings a thoughtful curation of tabletop items that celebrate craftsmanship and Mediterranean authenticity to the West Coast. We met with Lennard to learn more.

Tell us about the space. Compared to our Manhattan and Amagansett stores, this one is very tailored to Los Angeles. It’s wide open, with an outdoor area where customers can enjoy the sunshine and a coffee. The interiors were designed by myself and my business partners, Lorenzo and Antonello Radi.

Shelves full of glassware and ceramics at il Buco Vita

What will visitors find? Handmade pieces that keep treasured Italian craft techniques alive. Our ceramics, glassware, linens and other housewares are modern yet classical in style, and honor the artist’s hand. There are antique ceramics too, and Antonello’s charming still life art and paintings of traditional Umbrian scenes.

What’s unique to this location? Our first-ever offering of exceptional antique quilts. Many were crafted in Mennonite communities across Pennsylvania. I’ve been collecting them for decades!
