The seventh annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach opened its doors to the public February 23. With the work of 23 acclaimed interior designers and architects on display, this year’s house unapologetically embraces colorful interior design and empowers bold patterns and maximalist accents to intertwine. Modern coastal elements are at play, with several rooms subtly paying tribute to the beach locale through seaworthy accents and tropical wallcoverings. And though moody moments abound, an overall ambiance of cheer cannot be overlooked. All in all, designers crafted a curated collection of standout rooms, each with a signature feel. Jewel Tones Meet Colorful Accents

A 28-foot custom rug by Retorra greets visitors to this lively entry room dubbed “Jeweled Gallery” by Nadia Watts Interior Design. The rug’s center medallions are modeled after an oval brooch from The Tiffany Archives. Jewel tones adorn the walls and ceiling, the latter of which is covered in a Porter Teleo wallcovering that was handmade for the room. Serving as the official art curator for several of the show’s designers, Singulart provided original art pieces like the vibrant pink painting by Gary Komarin above the sofa. Together, the room explores the interplay of color, from bright to muted to everything in between.
Playful Pink Interiors

“The Parlour,” a dreamy pink lounge by Betsy Wentz Interior Design blends saturated colors and punchy patterns. Sanderson and Harlequin woodland fabrics and wallpaper served as the inspiration for this gathering space, which operates as a functional hallway to the primary suite. With florals galore, the lounge emanates a romantic yet playful tone. Vibrant artwork layered atop the whimsical wallpaper adds another point of intrigue. In the corner, a green marble countertop and backsplash from Prime Stone round out the lounge’s bar.
A Moody Room With Art Deco Elements

Ready for some introspection? Look no further than “A Gentleman’s Affair with Sunset Tea,” the hideaway room by DuVäl Design. Hand-painted scenic wallpaper tells the story of a setting sun, underscoring the moody tone of this private respite. The room also features several Art Deco accents, including tea tables and table lamps that set the stage for a thoughtful refuge. Currey & Company lighting arrangements add a softness to the space. Blues, pinks and greens play off one another, crafting a color story intent on offering visitors a place to slow down and think.
A Tropical Colorful Palm Beach Kitchen

Colorful kitchens, like this one by Jim Dove Design, are the perfect place to celebrate the art of cooking (or pretend you’re prepping palomas with Dorothy Draper). Shades of blue mingle within the space—from the wet bar to the wallcoverings—and play up the shell-pink cabinetry. Proving both elegant and lively, this artistic kitchen, featuring Cosentino surfaces, embraces color in a sophisticated homage to Palm Beach’s opulence and vibrancy.
Cozy + Calm Green Interiors

This monochrome green home office by Nicole Mizrahi Interiors + Lichten Architects is anything but one note. “It’s Not Easy Being Green – Kermit’s Retreat” embraces the coziness of seclusion. The green walls, floors, and Benjamin Moore-painted ceiling form a cocoon-like space intent on ensuring a welcoming environment. Curving, soft lines are found throughout the furniture. The room’s namesake Muppet takes a load off in the black Wendell Castle Chair, one of the only contrasting colors in the space.
A Classic Coastal Indoor-Outdoor Oasis

A prime example of classic coastal, “Trellis Garden” by Ariel Okin Interiors combines natural materials like wicker with traditional patterns like chintz to craft a functional yet beautiful outdoor oasis. Powder blue Brown Jordan outdoor furniture and planters enhance the neutral backdrop. Inspired by the historic architecture of Palm Beach legends John Volk and Maurice Fatio, Okin’s space draws on the fluidity of indoor-outdoor living in Palm Beach with European sentiments.
A Punchy Powder Room

This bathroom, cleverly named “De-Loo-Loo,” is truly pretty in pink (and red). Working with Christopher Farr (whose iconic “Carnival” print celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with exclusive recolorings), Megan Gorelick Interiors created a custom colorway of the “Belle de Nuit” pattern that envelopes the room, from walls to countertops to drapes fabricated by The Shade Store. Not to be missed, the bathroom’s Kohler tub is filled with an overflow of sea-worthy florals and sits atop Urban Coast Tile.
A Romantic Poolside Pavilion

Fittingly dubbed the “Peony Pavilion,” this poolside oasis takes inspiration from designer Chloe Warner’s grandmother, who boasted a life-long love of Palm Beach, chintz, and card games. Case-in-point, the Peony Chintz wallpaper that envelopes the room. The wallpaper, debuted at the Show House, is one of many original designs on the way in 2024 from Warner’s firm, Redmond Aldrich. The charming green hue offers the perfect backdrop for the lounge’s accents decked out in various shades of browns and reds.
