Behind This New Design Collab That Is Off The Chain

Details

Mother-and-daughter design duo Natasha Sultan and Helena Sultan of Konekt have teamed up with luxury home decor platform The Scope to launch their first collaboration, a head-turning grouping of chain mail-wrapped pendant lights and tables.
After spotting an antique metal pot scrubber at a flea market, Natasha and Helena knew that they would incorporate chain mail into their next series. Their new Armor Collection offers side tables with a cylindrical or triangular solid brass or cold-rolled steel base, cloaked in metal mesh. Table bases and their covering material can be crafted in contrasting finishes to create a layered look.
Inspired by artist Eva Hesse’s 1966 sculpture Untitled or Not Yet, the lighting collection showcases a handblown glass single pendant or a cluster of organically shaped orbs elegantly draped in chain mail. The partially clad pendants’ stunning juxtaposition of Medieval armor-style chain mail and delicate glass evoke Hesse’s artwork, with the metal links evocative of its knotted string bags and the spheres referencing the rounded shapes contained within.
Pendants can be finished in satin brass, satin nickel, satin black or oil-rubbed bronze.
