Belden-Stratford Is Well-Positioned For The Next Century

With an extensive renovation of its more than 200 apartments and the addition of lifestyle amenities, the 100-year-old Belden-Stratford is well positioned for its next century. “In many cases, our work involved undoing changes made as part of previous renovations,” says Ted Fahey, vice president of real estate for Mansueto Office, which owns the Lincoln Park property. “It was especially rewarding to bring those elements back into the light.” Changes included reopening the mezzanine level and adding a fitness center in the original ballroom.
The Reed at Southbank Charms With Its Industrial-Modern Aesthetic

Designed by Perkins&Will with floor-to-ceiling windows and an industrial-modern aesthetic, The Reed at Southbank opened Summer 2023 in the South Loop to welcome residents to its 224 apartments. Highlights include a 2-acre park along the Chicago River as well as an eighth-floor amenity deck with a pool and entertaining areas. “The double-height lobby is a focal point of the design,” says Lendlease’s Jon Cordell. “It features a hospitality-inspired bar, fireplace and a variety of seating configurations that establish the space as a place to gather rather than simply pass through.”
The Row Fulton Market Reflects The Neighborhood’s Industrial Past

Morris Adjmi Architects designed The Row Fulton Market with architectural details that mirror the neighborhood’s industrial past. “The Row’s dark metal façade, articulated with steel beams and curved aluminum brackets, is the project’s defining feature,” says Morris Adjmi, firm founder and principal. “The design evokes an interplay of light throughout the day, revealing surprising depth and detail. It’s a dramatic and shifting balance of light and shadow, strength and elegance.” The interior of the 300-unit building continues the moody theme with rich textures and warm color palettes specified by design firm MAWD.
