Shelf Life: Making Architecture

Chicago-based Brininstool + Lynch–renowned for elegant spatial compositions and nuanced details in both residential and commercial projects–launched a beautiful new coffee table book, Making Architecture, in October to coincide with its own 30th anniversary. Celebrated for its modern works rooted in Midwestern culture and drawing inspiration from Chicago legacies such as Mies van der Rohe, the architectural firm focuses on buildings that are as enduring and timeless as they are graceful and powerful. Those concepts are perfectly illustrated in the book, in which partners David Brininstool and Brad Lynch highlight 12 projects that represent the ultimate character of the practice: from country cottages around Illinois and Indiana to contemporary multi-unit residential buildings to single family urban residences that exude sophistication.
