Talking Shop With Debbie Propst

PRESIDENT, ONE KINGS LANE

One Kings Lane President Debbie Propst discusses the online retailer’s new pop-up shop in the historic Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, New York.

The shop will be your first street-level brick-and-mortar store. How do will it enhance your clients’ experience?

We’re really looking forward to continuing an omnichannel approach as we reposition One Kings Lane out of our former flash sale model and into a dependable lifestyle brand. It’s important to give our customer the ability to experience our brand.

Tell us about the juxtaposition of historic and modern in the space and the effect that has on aesthetic.

The space is iconic, and we plan to retain the integrity of the structure and accentuate its interior features with vignettes that include an eclectic mix of modern, vintage and traditional pieces that speak to the classic Hamptons aesthetic–with a twist!

Why Southampton?

This is a great way to stay top-of-mind with a really key audience for our brand. Between the residents and the number of visitors the area attracts, we are excited to be engaging with our core customers.

How can your clients work with designers?

We’ll offer complimentary services through The Studio at One Kings Lane, our in-house design team. Appointments are bookable online. Customers answer questions about their project and are matched with a designer. The designers can handle anything from designing a table to decorating the whole house.

UPDATE, September 2017 –The One Kings Lane brick-and-mortar store is staying in Southampton. Originally meant as a summer popup, the store received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community and has decided to extend its lease. Keep an eye out for a redesign of the floor space in fall.

The One Kings Lane pop-up is located at 11 Jobs Lane, Southampton, New York.
