Where The Firm Behind Lauren Conrad’s New Shop Finds Inspo

The Insider: Shannon Wollack

Shannon Wollack and her business partner, Brittany Zwickl, founders of design firm Studio Life.Style, have a full roster of exciting projects in the works, including homes in Southern California, the Bahamas and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as well as a shop by television personality Lauren Conrad.

Wollack and Zwickl have developed a signature style that’s fresh and approachable–and available online. “It’s really started to take off,” says Wollack of their web boutique. “We’ve put a lot of effort into making sure it reflects our aesthetic.” It’s a great resource for edgy, ethnic finds.

We asked Wollack where she goes when looking for inspiration.

Design must-sees: Downtown L.A. is great to explore because there are so many different styles in such a concentrated area: the Bradbury Building, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Central Library and Union Station.

Best inspiration: I love checking out new hotels and restaurants for some creative ideas–the Nomad, in particular. Little Beach House Malibu Soho House is an amazing place to relax or even get some work done. Melrose Place is great for charming stores and coffee shops. And everyone should check out Mansur Gavriel!

Ones to watch: Treasure Trove specializes in custom window treatments, wallpapers, upholstery, bed coverings, pillows, slipcovers, carpeting and other home furnishings. They have so many great textiles and are just very creative. We also have our eyes on Made Solid. We particularly love their handmade wrapped-leather vases.
