Just south of downtown Miami overlooking Biscayne Bay stands the otherworldly Vizcaya estate. Owner and businessman James Deering envisioned the 1920s property as a modern and subtropical interpretation of 18th-century Italian villas. Despite its historical inspiration, the waterfront estate was constructed with modern techniques and technology for the time.
