It’s easy to prioritize rest and wellness in these sanctuary bedrooms that serve as personal retreats—no reservations required.
The primary bedroom is a quiet retreat and maintains a materials palette similar to the rest of the home—such as the oak flooring from Eurocraft Hardwood Floors and the rift white oak cabinetry by Northwest Custom Interiors. Above the fireplace is marble from Pental Surfaces, while nearby is a custom ottoman by Village Interiors.
A Lindsay Cowles wallpaper envelopes the main bedroom, where JF Fabrics velvet covers the bed and C&C Milano trim enhances a Peacock Alley duvet cover. Nightstands from Blue Print, a Serena & Lily bench and a Visual Comfort & Co. chandelier from Taylors complete the space.
ROOM WITH A VIEW
With a soft color palette, the serene main bedroom serves as a place of reflection. Loew designed the bed with Beacon Hill fabric from Robert Allen. A Floatation light by Ingo Maurer hangs from the wood-paneled ceiling, and the banana-silk rug is by J.D. Staron.
A pair of miniature beaded chandeliers by Palecek are one of the many Moroccan-inspired elements in the homeowners’ bedroom, which is furnished with a carved wooden bed from RH and a charpai from Tierra Del Lagarto.
In the main bedroom, a Rooster Socks Furniture & Design settee wearing a John Robshaw print hides the TV. The bed, by The Beautiful Bed Company, is customized with Holland & Sherry fabric and Dea linens from The Brass Bed. A Julie Neill white plaster chandelier from Circa Lighting holds court from above, while a rug from Coventry Carpets grounds the space.
Raw exposed beams in the main bedroom bring warmth to the cozy space, where a Hollywood At Home bed holds court. The Dash & Albert rug adds texture underfoot.
The main bedroom offers a sense of sanctuary beneath Sloan’s white-washed pecky cypress ceiling. Hickory Chair’s Artisan bed features a tactile Holly Hunt textile on the headboard and Joseph Noble panels. Bedding includes a Legacy Home coverlet and Euro shams wearing a Lulu DK for Robert Allen textile. Bliss Studio’s Lina console stands opposite.
Soft neutrals set the tone for the sanctuary that is the master bedroom. A Redford House bed and matching Avery Boardman chair and ottoman provide comfortable options for lounging. The subtle pattern of the Schumacher drapes keeps the room interesting.
To keep the master bedroom simple and sanctuary-like, Kaehler selected lacquered vintage bedside tables and a bed from My Chic Nest, which she dressed in Matouk linens from Bedside Manor.
A minimalistic sanctuary for slumber, the master bedroom employs creamy hues and soft textures. The custom six-drawer dresser was designed by Timothy Brown Studio and the vintage Philip Arctander clam chair is upholstered in a Holland & Sherry boucle.
The main suite’s secluded position in one wing of the house ensures a sense of quiet retreat, which is reinforced by Benjamin Moore’s Horizon on the walls and a plush silk-and-wool Holland & Sherry carpet. Italian linens from Lynnens in Greenwich, Connecticut, dress the bed.
REST IS BEST
Texture, light and shadow combine to create a restful master retreat, in which a four-poster bed by Holly Hunt and a bench by Formations offer comfortable spots to take in the waterfront vista. The Italian limestone fireplace offers a grounding focal point that doesn’t upstage the scenery outside.
Phillip Jeffries’ Sequoia White hemp wallcovering envelops a bedroom home to RH’s Marisol seagrass slope bed. Palecek’s Annabel Hassock stool skirts the edge of a custom Oscar Isberian rug. Visual Comfort & Co.’s Toulon table lamp joins The Urban Electric Co.’s Audley wall lamp, which Goldman mounted in each bedroom.
STAY A WHILE
The homeowner wanted the main bedroom to feel like a luxurious boutique hotel, so Lacourse responded with a serene, muted palette, including walls of Sherwin-Williams’ Sensible Hue and an RH bed upholstered in Kleinhelter’s suggested slate blue. The Interlude Home swivel chair— donning a gray Pollock tweed from Kleinhelter’s boutique, Pieces Inc.—defers to a Global Views bench in a vivid Romo cotton.
Lundberg opted for subtle furnishings in the couple’s bedroom to keep the emphasis on the view. The bed and nightstands are from RH and the lamps are from Arteriors. Anchoring the room is a plush Moroccan rug from Rugs USA, and above the bed are two works from Wendover Art.
“Our intent was to provide a cozy, private getaway—with furnishings and colors that foster a Zen feeling,” Young says of this guest bedroom. A Phillip Jeffries wallcovering provides the backdrop for a custom bed in an Ellis Dunn linen. At the foot is a settee in a Rogers & Goffigon stripe from Cowtan & Tout and an existing coffee table the designer had refinished.
Photo: Peter and Kelley GibeonThe goal in the master bedroom was to provide “comfort and luxury without it feeling fussy,” McGuire says. The Poliform bed has linens from The Brass Bed. McGuire designed the floating bedside tables. The sconces are by Lambert & Fils, and the wool and silk Tibetan rug is from Organic Looms.
