The wife was tired of all-white kitchens, so designer Carter Kay worked with her on a custom yellow color for the cabinets. The hue is inspired by the mustard tones found in the dramatically veined marble from Bottega by Stones International. The Emtek hardware is from Masterpiece Lighting and the Onda counter stool is from Design Within Reach.

A quartet of Ay Illuminate’s bamboo M2 pendants brightens the kitchen. The Calacatta marble and porcelain backsplash and countertops complement cabinetry by Leeds Custom Design, which wears Emtek hardware from Smith & DeShields. Bonaldo’s Plumage stools and Loto chair from Addison House and Blanco’s Culina faucets from Ferguson complete the scene.

“The oak does the talking for the entire design,” designer Alexis Litman says of the kitchen’s floors, custom cabinetry by Green Leaf Cabinet Company and island, into which the design team inset a work space of Danby marble from ABC Stone. Mater’s oak and leather High Stools complement the warm tones, while Brendan Ravenhill’s industrial Double Church Chandelier in white and brass provides a striking contrast.

Clad in gray leathered Bardiglio and salt-white marble from Arizona Tile, the monolithic center island in the kitchen plays off the blackheart granite flooring with a leather finish from Cactus Stone & Tile and the flat-front kitchen cabinetry from Linear Fine Woodworking.
SHAKE IT OFF

The kitchen’s Shaker-style cabinetry dons Sherwin-Williams’ Urbane Bronze, complementing dark marble countertops from Kelca Counters. The Calacatta Arabescato Vagli marble backsplash from AGM Imports offsets olive shades on The Urban Electric Co.’s Chiltern Double pendant. McGuire’s Bercut swivel counter stools add subtle masculinity.

Thomas Hayes barstools covered in Caress Celery leather by Hancock & Moore are the perfect height to tuck underneath the kitchen island—topped with Revere White marble from Walker Zanger. The burgundy range is by Lacanche, and the Neo Double Bar pendant by O’Lampia echoes its brass details, along with those on Waterworks’ Henry faucet.

In the kitchen, a trio of spherical pendants hangs above a Bianco Lasa Fantastico marble-topped island fabricated by Construction Resources. The base is painted Sherwin-Williams’ Riverway, while the reproduction Norman Cherner walnut counter stools are from Design Within Reach. The vent hood is by Francois & Co.
WHITE DELIGHT

Recently renovated for former owners, the handsome kitchen features white wood cabinetry, a classic subway tile backsplash and Carrara marble countertops. Darryl’s enhancements—swivel stools from Arteriors and glass and nickel pendants from Circa Lighting—inject a modern edge, while Roman shades in a Schumacher check add sweetness.

Interior designer Lisa Friedman kept the kitchen’s existing antique marble checkerboard floors but traversed three states to find the 2-inch thick Italian statuary marble for the countertops and backsplash. The adjacent breakfast area features a washed oak David Iatesta table and sheer linen drapes from Rogers and Goffigon.
COLORADO RUSTIC

Designer Colin Griffith was looking to add a touch of “Colorado rustic” to the kitchen, so he installed scraped oak cabinets. The marble countertops by The Stone Collection and a polished brass Fournier range hood by Francois & Co. add elegant touches. The hand-blown pendants are by Hubbardton Forge.
GO FOR BOLD

Initially, designer Rebecca Salcito didn’t want anything too bold for the kitchen, but once she saw the Arabescato Carrara marble from The Stone Collection, she was smitten. Its dramatic veining complements the sleek white lacquered custom cabinetry by Downsview Kitchens and Amy Howard counter stools.
VINTAGE CHARM

A gut renovation updated the kitchen yet nods to vintage charm. Brass accents on the Cedar & Moss pendants and the Waterworks faucet have throwback vibes. Honed Italian statuary marble on the backsplash is from Mission Tile West. The barstools are from Organic Modernism, and the Wolf range is from Snyder Diamond.

Removing upper kitchen cabinets made space for an oil-on-linen by Leslie Parke, Janet’s Shelf, from Gremillion & Co. Fine Art, Inc. Other tweaks included new honed Carrara marble countertops. A Nelson Ball pendant lamp hangs above the Saarinen table and Eames molded plywood chairs from Design Within Reach.

A pair of striking oversize pendants by Michael Anastassiades from Lightology makes a statement in the bespoke kitchen, which features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and Santorini White marble countertops.
HONED STYLE

To ground the kitchen, designer Brittany Bromley painted the mullions of the new windows black. The cabinets feature fixtures from Katonah Architectural Hardware and the backsplash and counters are a honed white arabesque marble from Alise Marble & Granite Inc. in Bedford Hills. A vintage French gilt chandelier hangs over the island.
