Located in the historic Montana Motor Supply building in downtown Bozeman, the ever-evolving home decor store Architect’s Wife offers a slightly offbeat collection of treasures from fine Italian furniture to rare Montana antiques. Here, owner and interior designer Abby Hetherington shares her thoughts on creating meaningful spaces with a “distinct juxtaposition of eccentricity.”
What do you find exciting in design right now?
For me, it’s the growing intersection of heritage and innovation, where traditional craft techniques are being reimagined through contemporary forms. We’re seeing a renewed interest in designs that feel both rooted and forward-thinking.
Tell us about your mindset for curating the store.
Great design tells a story—one that’s personal, textured and unapologetically original. We select finds that combine refined craftsmanship with a spirit of the unexpected in order to put together a collection that feels both luxurious and deeply lived-in.
How is the design scene in Bozeman evolving?
As the community grows and diversifies, so does its appetite for bold, expressive interiors that blend Western roots with global influences. There’s a clear shift toward intentional living. People are seeking out pieces with history, meaning and enduring quality, where rustic sensibility meets refined design.
