First came Black Barn restaurant, then came Blackbarn Shop. And next month, New Yorkers will be able to enjoy Blackbarn flagship – a shop, cafe and bar opening at Chelsea Market.
Blackbarn, which has developed into a lifestyle brand, was originally the brainchild of interior designer Mark Zeff and friend chef John Doherty. The current team is a triple threat, combining Zeff’s approach to design, wife Kristen Zeff’s business savvy, and Doherty’s impressive culinary and hospitality experience.
The new Chelsea Market flagship will combine the food and shopping elements of the company in one unique space amidst the bustling cultural marketplace in the trendy Manhattan neighborhood.
Blackbarn is enlisting the help of a number of like-minded businesses, whose contributions will come together under one roof. The space will feature authentic, but non-living arrangements from Lexington Gardens, an Upper East Side floral decorations brand; a hand-curated library by Aaron Hicklin of One Grand Books; and products from international brands like Serax and Arxe, which with Blackbarn’s help, will be introduced to the U.S. market.
As an added bonus, items from Zeff’s design firm will also be available for purchase.
The flagship will open at the end of October and will feature an aesthetic in line with the Blackbarn Shop’s Dumbo location. Menu items will not disappoint. Chef Doherty’s famous Black Mission fig pizza, wild mushroom toast, and a signature Moscow Mule are among some of the hot-ticket items.
As we patiently await Chelsea Market’s latest addition, scroll through the products and images below to get a sense of the Blackbarn flagship’s vibe.
