CUE THE COBALT
Since the Shihs love to cook and gather, their kitchen needed space for both activities. After working with Shea on the room’s work triangle, Hager accented with Spanish-made Peronda tile on the backsplash. A bold blue vent hood from Ferguson perfectly matches the lower perimeter cabinetry, crafted by Opus Luxury Cabinets and painted a custom cobalt color. Selamat counter stools lend a French Provençal feel.
GO GREEN
The delicate fixture by Avenue Lighting adds drama to the kitchen without obstructing the view of the scene-stealing porcelain backsplash and range hood from Global Marble & Granite Importers. “This piece floats on a weighted system like a mobile,” Megan says. “It gives the illusion of multiple fixtures without mucking up the view.” The cabinets are coated in Farrow & Ball’s Studio Green, and the counter stools are by Rove Concepts.
POWDER DUSTING
The clients wanted a dining space that combined functionality and high style, which Oswalt delivered with a striking black concrete Desalto table surrounded by Ethnicraft Oak Bok chairs with leather seats. The blue slab-front cabinets in the kitchen provide a soothing counterpoint to the rich tobacco hue of the Precedent swivel chairs in Stroheim velvet.
IN THE NAVY
Abundant natural light makes for a special Manhattan kitchen. Urban Electric globes with a hint of coral and Serena & Lily barstools tie to the adjacent breakfast nook. Custom cabinetry designed by Hirshson and crafted by Furniture Guild is painted Benjamin Moore Light Pewter, with an island in contrasting Hale Navy. The Quarzo Bianco counters are from Stone Source.
SUBTLE SPLASH
Velvet Modway stools stand below Ballard Design’s Adelaide pendants in the kitchen, by Cammi Werling Designs. Christopher Farr Cloth’s Africana wallpaper complements the marble backsplash and countertops from Ceramic Matrix. The JennAir appliances, Signature Hardware faucet and Moen faucet are from Ferguson.
STAINED TO PERFECTION
Merz collaborated closely with Cutting Edge Woodworking in Leadville to create the two-toned cabinets for the kitchen, contrasting dark-stained chevron paneling with rift-cut white oak. She completed the space with a Cambria quartz backsplash, Crate & Barrel brass pendants and Nuevo counter stools crafted with metal and wood.
TOUT THE TEAL
Benjamin Moore’s vibrant Amazon Green paint in the kitchen contrasts with quartzite countertops and a shimmering backsplash tile from New Ravenna laid in a herringbone pattern. To underscore a modern mood, Curtis chose black-accented pendants from Circa Lighting, leather-wrapped three-prong pendants by Apparatus and barstools from Lawson-Fenning.
VERDANT VISION
Designer Raili Clasen chose Benjamin Moore’s Hunter Green for the cabinetry in this Coronado, California, kitchen she designed with architect Eric Olsen. Buster + Punch hardware and a Regulator faucet by Waterworks provide pretty brass accents while Community Manufacturing stools offer plush and stylish seating.
PRETTY IN PASTEL
Lucas placed cushions in a Chris Barrett fabric on the kitchen’s Williams-Sonoma Home barstools and added pendants by The Urban Electric Co. and brass hardware from Rejuvenation. The countertops are from Stoneland USA; the range is by Wolf. Carrying the blue theme into the space is cabinetry painted in Benjamin Moore’s Woodlawn Blue.
LUXE HUES
A pair of islands covered with quartzite from Stoneland USA anchors this kitchen space, while the cabinets sport a brass inlay that evokes a more traditional look with contemporary detailing. ADG Lighting fabricated the hanging fixture. Snyder Diamond supplied the Dornbracht faucets and Wolf range.
