Ceramicist Frances Palmer On Her Latest Floral-Forward Book
As a master potter, Frances Palmer has long intertwined her love for ceramics and florals. “Flowers have always been a part of my work, as I’m usually creating vases with certain blooms in mind,” the artist explains. For her second tome, Life With Flowers , Palmer focuses on floral gardening and arranging, particularly with the many species she grows on her Connecticut property. “Even in the winter, I go out and use what’s blooming,” she notes. The magnificent arrangement seen here— which includes Christmas roses as well as ivy tendrils and a few hips plucked from an Apothecary’s rose—is displayed in a wood-fired vase crafted by Palmer with ash and oxblood glazes.
