Explore The Design Language Of Lake Tahoe On The LUXE Connect Podcast

Lake Tahoe isn’t just a nature lover’s dream—it’s an architecture and design haven as well. Just ask architect Clare Walton, who joins the LUXE Connect Podcast for a deep dive into her work throughout the region—most notably, a modern getaway that elevates the idea of home as retreat to the next level.

Hosted by LUXE Homes Editor Mary Jo Bowling, the inaugural episode of LUXE Connect features a behind-the-scenes conversation with Walton about the creation of a clean-lined, minimalist escape in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The residence merges her clients’ affinity for outer space and concrete with a reverence for the surrounding landscape. Its sculptural form offers a striking counterpoint to the forested setting. “It’s a good fit for the landscape because it doesn’t compete with it,” Walton shares. Minimal yet commanding, the architecture and interiors allow the tree-lined expanse beyond to take center stage.

The Lake Tahoe community draws those captivated by its extraordinary scenery, making an indoor-outdoor connection essential to residential design. As Walton noted in LUXE’s original spotlight of the home, “When you can open up easily and connect with nature, it creates a sense of well-being.” It’s this seamless dialogue between built environment and landscape that continues to define Northern California living at its most compelling.
