Coral & Tusk

Since founding Coral & Tusk with a single embroidery machine in her Brooklyn apartment, Stephanie Housley has developed a spirited line of textiles stitched from her original nature-inspired drawings. Now relocated to Pinedale, Wyoming, Housley shares more about her thoughtful wares.

What is your favorite item to give as a gift?

Tea towels are universally loved and multifunctional. They add the perfect accent to a kitchen or bathroom regardless of existing decor and can even be used for packaging a homemade loaf of bread.

What feeling are you trying to convey with your textiles?

I want to foster a deeper connection with nature. Through these designs, we aim to spark an appreciation for our natural habitats. When people become more aware of the world around them, they’re more likely to act in ways that protect and preserve it.

Cosy House

Drawing inspiration from the Danish concept of hygge—a feeling of warmth, comfort and contentment—Nancy Van Matre has infused her home design shop, Cosy House, with a quiet, effortless style that feels timeless and livable. From her storefront in St. George, Utah, she offers ideas to foster well-being and joy during the winter season.

What holiday decor elements can create a sophisticated feel in a home?

Try using a beautiful vessel for a Christmas tree, such as a silver champagne bucket, or plant paperwhite bulbs in antique silver bowls. I like to layer in fresh cranberries over the soil for an unexpected pop of color. For a little touch, place tiny silver and gold bells tied with velvet ribbon around your hand soap, dish soap, jars and lamps.

What is your favorite gift to bring to a gathering?

I love giving a meaningful, personal ornament wrapped beautifully. You can make the most simple, humble gift so special by dressing it up with pretty ribbon and unique tags and embellishments.
