A Denver Furniture Duo Takes Us Behind Their Design Process
For Donnie Criswell and Lindsey Price Criswell, co-founders of Denver Modern, seating is everything. While the duo also manufactures tables, beds, hutches and more, it was the success of their Vail Lounge Chair in 2020 that led them to introduce the Vail Counter Stool, now their most popular piece. The couple lets us into their creative process.
What defines Denver Modern furniture?
A nature-based palette with Italian leathers, Belgian linens, white oak, walnut and mixed metals. Our versatility comes out in our products’ details and how they sit.
What do you prioritize in your design?
Materiality and comfort, with clean lines and lasting components that look better over time. Our furnishings can be transformative in a space.
Any exciting news for 2025?
We are opening a larger showroom in Denver’s Central Park, with an expanded fabric palette and different material and metal combinations. Our industry has been focused on bouclé, but we’ve found new woven textiles that are robust with a different silhouette. We’ll also be debuting a new counter stool, lounge chair, dining table and side table.
