Design Within Reach Goes Big In Salt Lake City With Its New Showroom

In a move that signifies its commitment to the Western mountain locale, Design Within Reach will be opening a leading-edge 10,000-square-foot showroom in Salt Lake City in November. “Many people still view modern design as unapproachable, in that it strictly consists of classic pieces that belong in a museum,” shares Debbie Propst, president of global retail for Design Within Reach’s parent company, MillerKnoll. “But when you step into our evolved store designs, that notion can be shifted instantly.” Alongside iconic midcentury modern classics—such as Herman Miller’s Eames lounge chairs, Marcel Breuer’s dining chairs and George Nelson’s bubble lamps—originals from pioneering brands such as Mabeo Studio, Beni and Perron Pillo complement the eclectic mix. “We feature designs that celebrate modern craftsmanship without being pretentious—it is meant to be worn in, not out,” Propst concludes. “We believe that a life well designed is a life well lived.”
