From The Editor: The Pink Paint That Finally Wow’d Me
MY PAINT CHALLENGE: It was late on a Friday night that my hunt began for the perfect paint color to refresh my guest cottage. Luckily, I had a deadline (house guests were arriving the following weekend) and I’m decisive. The room in question had blue-gray walls and I was ready for a change: something both joyful and serene.
RESEARCH MODE: I hit Pinterest, LuxeSource, Instagram and Benjamin Moore (see a few of my inspiration shots on the scroll below) to search color options and landed on…pink! Yes, pink, for a room that is mostly inhabited by my college-age son when he comes home to visit. “I could sell this,” I figured and forged ahead.
THE HUE REVEALED: Coral pink? Blush Pink? Lavender-Pink? With five options jotted on my iPhone’s Notes, I dashed over to Benjamin Moore to review swatches. I left with a quart of 008 Pale Pink Satin, had my husband paint a wall and thought. “um, too coral.” After a few back-and-forths, I finally selected a Benjamin Moore pink paint: 1291 Paisley Pink. I LOVE it! It is the perfect mix with gray-lavender undertones that keep it from feeling too bubble-gum. And, my 20-year-old texted a smiley emoji to seal his approval.
“A pink hue for your walls, selected carefully, can be elegant, mature, and a feel-good color.”
