This California Floral Artist Makes Flowers Live Forever
From her home studio in Downey, artist Jasmyn Marie Maciel of Marie’s Floral Art creates moody dried-floral pieces set in resin. She had been working with pressed flowers for several years when someone inquired about preserving a wedding bouquet. She shared the result on Instagram—where her feed is filled with mesmerizing process reels of epoxy pours atop delicate dried florals—and requests started flooding in.
“It’s been a humbling experience,” she shares. Maciel, whose trays made from clients’ bouquets can be mounted as wall art, also grows her own favorites: roses, Queen Anne’s lace, yarrows and foxgloves.
“I try to capture the details—the curvature of stems, the way the petals give the illusion of movement in the resin,” she explains. “My pieces are meant to be explored up close.”
