Step Inside Heath Ceramics' New Austin Showroom

With its first location outside of California, Heath Ceramics’ new Austin showroom boasts beautiful tableware that elevates each meal. The expansion felt natural for a brand whose many close collaborators are based in the city, including Larry McGuire, cofounder of MML Hospitality, whose Swedish Hill cafe shares the space. “If we’ve learned anything after being in business for 75-plus years, it’s to take advantage of every opportunity you have to work with the people who inspire you,” says Megan Wernetti, president, creative at Heath Ceramics. “So, when Larry reached out, we couldn’t say no.” An alumnus of the University of Texas School of Architecture, Wernetti is one of the many team members who share Texas roots. “It was about as much of a homecoming as it could be, considering it’s our first foray outside of California,” she muses. The gallery features abundant stacks of dinnerware, as well as architectural tile and one-of-a-kind light fixtures from the Heath Clay Studio. Also on display is the latest collaboration with Herman Miller, which includes a take on their iconic Studio Mug that originally inspired the Austin showroom’s neon sign outside. “This city has incredible energy—there’s so much going on in the food, design and music scenes—and we are excited to go deeper into that world,” Wernetti adds.
