This March, the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel unveiled two redesigned luxury suites, the Gable and Lombard Penthouse (seen here)—where romance blossomed between screen legends Clark Gable and Carole Lombard in the 1930s—and the Johnny Grant Apartment, home to the late television producer and honorary mayor of Hollywood during the 1990s.
The accommodations (which share access to a 3,000-square-foot rooftop dining terrace and garden) were conceived by Los Angeles interior designer Kevin Klein to be comfortable for stays short or long, and can also be combined into an opulent single buyout.
Klein took inspiration from the Golden Age of Hollywood, bringing in Italian marble, wood paneling and antiques from around the world, including a retractable 18th-century French tapestry that disguises a theater screen in the penthouse.
The apartment, which includes an office, kitchen, six-seat bar, and dining room for 16, is ideal for entertaining. Adding to the suites’ charm are hand-painted ceiling murals rediscovered during the renovation.
