Bloomist’s Eco-Chic Decor Heads To This SoHo Store
We love it when two great aesthetes team up to make consumers giddy. And this fall in downtown Manhattan, two particularly hip players have aligned.
Come September 19th, Michele Varian‘s SoHo design store will play hostess to Bloomist, an online garden and decor destination. Founded by Alex Bates and Michael Zung, Bloomist sells a range of dried flowers, vessels and decorative objects from small-batch makers and environmentally focused artisans. Segue to Michele Varian whose namesake storefront also focuses on independent makers and special finds, and it’s apparent the match made in brick-and-mortar and e-commerce heaven.
“Michele and I have known each other for years and admire each other’s work and point of view,” says Bates. “When we were looking for a pop-up space this fall, Michele Varian was a natural fit.”
The happiest of all will be the shoppers.
“One of the things that defines my shop is that you can come here and find unusual design pieces that can’t be found anywhere else. It’s all about originality of the design, and Bloomist has this,” says Varian.
Shop-goers will be able to take home recycled glass cloches, wooden chains, garden pots from Tracie Hervy, botanically dyed wool pillows from France, and wreaths sourced with materials from organic New York farms.
Michele Varian is located at 27 Howard St. in New York City.
