Nature And Glamour Merge In Hudson River Valley

Looking to transform their traditional-style Hudson River Valley retreat, a young Manhattan couple called on designer Sasha Bikoff to create a space that better reflects their style while still allowing the views to take center stage.

“She’s really young, fashion-forward, edgy,” Bikoff says of the wife. “Creative people like to have their own art and style shine through. I saw this home as a backdrop for her personality.”

So, out went the dark finishes and heavy stone, and in went chic, glamorous pieces including a brass-and-glass chandelier as well as molten-lava-rock coffee tables to add a little bit of edge.

While much of the palette and furnishings remained neutral to better connect with the outdoors, texture and color were added to many of the rooms such as an antique African rug in the master bathroom and metallic grass cloth in the master bedroom.

The result is a home that showcases the abstract artwork and the many distinct pieces around the home while embracing the outdoors.
