The holiday season is here, and it’s time to shop! From Greenwich to Sag Harbor, LUXE taps six local interior designers to share where they go for brilliant and unusual gifts.

Maureen McDermott

The 1818 Collective

On the eastern end of Long Island, Maureen McDermott, founder of Winter McDermott Design, finds gifts at The 1818 Collective in Sag Harbor. “They have great pillows, throws, accessories and dinnerware,” she says, noting that the shop also has well-curated vintage pieces for one-of-a-kind finds.

Sarah Sargeant

Sara Japanese Pottery

Sara Japanese Pottery on the Upper East Side showcases beautiful ceramics with a mix of functional—but exquisite—tableware as well as sculptural pieces. “I love Japanese ceramics, particularly bowls and plates,” says Sarah Sargeant, principal at Cochineal Design. “Sara features exhibitions, which is unusual in the tableware space. I like when shopping is also an experience.”

Jennifer Morris

Un Posto Italiano

Un Posto Italiano is my go-to spot for a client gift, or something to bring to a dinner party or housewarming,” says Jennifer Morris, founder of JMorris Design. “I am obsessed with their beautiful selection of hand-painted ceramics from Abruzzo.” She also notes that Casa Marrazzo peach preserves are a favorite indulgence, as is stopping by the Park Slope shop’s cozy café for a caffè latte.

Beth Krupa

Sam Bridge Nursery

Greenery is a welcome gift as the seasons turn, and Beth Krupa, principal at her eponymous firm, relies on Greenwich-based Sam Bridge Nursery for her bespoke plants. “One of my favorite things to purchase from Sam Bridge is their seasonal and custom-designed perennials for our clients’ planters,” she says. “They create each arrangement to align perfectly with our chosen color palette.”

Anna Baraness

Leif

Anna Baraness, partner at Studio AK, likes to shop at Leif in Williamsburg. “This is a beautifully curated lifestyle shop that not only has wonderful things but is also such an inviting space to be in,” Baraness says. “It’s a woman-owned business like we are, and we love that they support independent artists.” She also notes that it’s a go-to place to find art prints for their design projects.
