Find Objects With A Story At Olive Ateliers' New Online Shop

In 2021, Laura Sotelo and husband-and-wife Kendall and Ben Knox turned their passion for antiques into Olive Ateliers. Their “shop the drop” events won a cult-like following, and they quickly became one of Los Angeles’ most innovative retailers. Augmenting their DTLA shop, they’re now also online. Sotelo tells us more.
What niche does the shop fill?
In a city known for constant reinvention, and in a time where newness and “dupes” are oversaturated, we offer a counterbalance by heroizing objects that evoke a sense of nostalgia. Olive Ateliers caters to those who are searching for objects that have a story to tell and resonate with history and craftsmanship.
How do you find the pieces?
Our journey in sourcing items and connecting with artisans has led us to some of the most incredible places—Turkey, France, India, Indonesia, Morocco. Sharing their heritage with our community is the most important facet of what we do. We’re humbled to work alongside them and share their stories.
What’s to come?
With our new e-commerce platform, we bring objects directly to your doorstep, and we’re excited to introduce upcoming “drops” and an expanded selection of one-off items, statement furniture and exclusive designs we’ve been crafting behind the scenes.
