Refreshing linen fabrics in stripes and chevron patterns on upholstered living room seating–check. Diaphanous striped drapes in both rooms that billow in the sea breeze–check. Cooling limestone floors–check.
Asked to imbue a two-story Colonial residence walking distance from the ocean with a beach-inspired motif, designers Sara McCann and Jenna Conte certainly followed their clients’ cue.
They even went so far as to dub the shared family and guest area in the Palm Beach home the “cabana room.” With its bright yellow bamboo wallpaper and lively lemon, blue and green tropical patterned sofa, the space is aptly named.
But the design duo also introduced items that while evoke a vacation retreat, also pack a punch. McCann points to a pair of Palacek string to make her case. “They are a sculptural element and are beautiful from all directions,” she says.
Texture is another important variable throughout the abode as evidenced by the measured use of grass cloth on the living room, dining room and select bedroom walls.
The outdoor space also received some love, with landscape architect Keith Williams adding a fire pit to the yard, refreshing the entry and adding greenery throughout the spaces.
Powder-coated aluminum seating topped with pale blue cushions tie back to the casual vibe found in the living area.
“Every house needs a couple of wow elements to really make a statement,” McCann says. And with the pops of colors found throughout this estate, it’s safe to say the home makes a bold one.
