Paradise Valley Home Exudes Casual Elegance

Where one goes, others tend to follow.
This was the trend for Arizona philanthropist Pat Petznick and her relatives. “Our family has always lived side by side,” she explains. So, when both of her family members decided to purchase respective homes in Paradise Valley, Petznick and her husband naturally picked up and left their Phoenix abode to purchase a lot nearby.
Instead of the European-style estate they previously owned, the couple opted to tone down the formality and create a home that mixes a casual aesthetic with elegant touches. To achieve this look, the couple turned to Petznick’s longtime designer Anne Gale, along with design veterans Patty Burdick and Jennifer Campos.
To begin, Gale reconfigured the interior architecture to set the stage for the furnishings yet to come. “My first focus was to create an interesting interior space that was all about shape and shadow, working with only whites and creams,” she says. From there, the designer combined the couple’s collection of artwork with a mix of both formal and relaxed furnishings.
The outcome is a fresh yet sophisticated home with views from every room. The designer, too, is pleased with the result, adding, “I count this as one of my starring designs.”
