Two collections by L.A. designers offer functional ways to enjoy the West Coast spirit.
To infuse your home with soul down to the most chic details, look no further than Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward of design firm Pierce & Ward’s hardware line with Modern Matter. The collection includes pulls, brackets, a soap dish and a door knocker that bring an unconventional energy to kitchens, bathrooms and beyond. Created in unlacquered brass with betel nut and pine wood accents, the designs, which are also available at the studio’s Los Feliz shop, play on Egyptian and Jazz Age motifs, exuding the designers’ boho-meets-glam style.

Ceramics shaped by the hands of local makers will bring a uniquely Californian sense of organic refinement to your interiors. Kym Gold, co-founder of True Religion apparel, has relaunched her tableware company, Style Union Home, as Dumæ. It was memories of family dinners that first inspired Gold to explore ceramics, and each piece is crafted by L.A.-based ceramists to bring an artisanal touch to the table. To celebrate the change, she reintroduced her popular Les Femmes collection, which includes vessels, pitchers and bowls in one-of-a-kind forms.
