Since there are no views from the main bath, an oculus positioned above the MTI tub fitted with Gessi plumbing fixtures makes for a special moment in the space. Completing the spa-like feel are Carrara marble tiles from Statements Tile & Stone.

STATEMENT BATH

The main bathroom continues the home’s recurring quatrefoil motif, seen in custom Waterworks marble-and-limestone mosaic tiles that provide an eye-catching backdrop for the Hydro Systems freestanding bathtub and honed Thassos marble from Walker Zanger spanning the floors. Iatesta Studio’s Cain pendant illuminates the scene.

COZY CORNERS

“We wanted to use statement pieces in the bath overlooking the vineyards,” says Ash, who chose a Blu Bathworks soaking tub and a coco shell chandelier from Palecek. Built-in oak shelving provides space for towels, bath salts and accessories.

INTERNATIONAL INFLUENCE

In the main bathroom, the priority was to incorporate a traditional Japanese soaking tub, and the team selected one by Zen Bathworks. Its sleek lines are matched by streamlined Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures. Mustang marble complements the color of the tub and surrounds the bath and forms the vanity countertop.

LIGHT THE WAY

In the homeowners’ bathroom, a Victoria + Albert soaking tub is sited to enjoy the privacy and views. Marble flooring from Artistic Tile and Apparatus Studio’s Cloud 19 chandelier create an envelope of crisp serenity, while a Made Goods stool adds a rustic touch.

Frosted windowpanes provide privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light to filter into the main bathroom, emphasizing its airy palette. The tub is by MTI, and a salvaged-cedar table by Riva 1920 from Nido Living adds an organic accent.

SET IN STONE

Behind the custom vanity from Showplace Cabinetry, PetraSlate black ledgestone tile brings a tactile element into the main bathroom. A concrete pendant by Seed Design provides light, while a sumptuous Signature Hardware soaking tub overlooks the forest.

By positioning the main bathroom at grade and incorporating a floor-to-ceiling window wall, the feeling is of a much larger space that connects seamlessly with the garden outside. A cast-in-place concrete floor, Ann Sacks tiles and an oval soaking tub by Wetstyle fitted with a Hansgrohe spout all hew to a soft white and gray palette.

SERENE PALETTE

A BainUltra tub from Studio41 invites relaxation in the spa-like master bathroom, which is adorned with textured marble wall tile and white Thassos marble flooring. The darkened brass stool is by Gentner Design from Atelier Gary Lee.

“The master bathroom is spacious, bright and private and overlooks the central courtyard,” says architect John M. Brenner. An MTI tub and the owners’ stool rest on mosaic flooring of white Thassos and Carrara marble.

VACATION VIBES

Inspired by the bathroom in their Seychelles honeymoon suite, the master bath is a refined retreat for two that seems to be suspended in the tree canopy. Not unlike other parts of the house, the elegant trappings of the space, from the limestone-topped vanity to a matte-white freestanding soaking tub by MTI Baths, are meant to keep nature as the center of attention.

THUMBS UP

Joelsson placed Global View’s ceramic Open Hands stool from Cudesso in the master bathroom to add a whimsical note to the more geometric soaking tub.

ARTFUL ACCENTS

The master bath enveloped in Glassos large-scale wall tiles showcases custom white-lacquer cabinetry fabricated by Planning & Building, Dornbracht polished-chrome plumbing fixtures, a Duravit sink and a Kaldewei enamel soaking tub. The Petit Granit floors create consistency with the rest of the cottage and offer easy maintenance. A work by fashion photographer Victor Skrebneski hangs on the room’s far wall.

RELAXING RETREAT

The wife is often in the field all day with her horse and dogs, so the design team wanted to create a master bath that’s a serene retreat for her in the evening. A freestanding Reve tub by Kohler is surrounded by walls painted in Benjamin Moore’s Snowfall White. The polished marble floor tiles are from PetraSlate Tile & Stone.
