A Texas Native Offers A Unique Shopping Experience
Talking Shop With Russell Brightwell
In the fall, Houston native Russell Brightwell left a 30-year advertising career and moved to Dallas for love–of design. Across from Fair Park, he offers a unique shopping experience in his eponymous loft home/showroom, where decorative objects, books and artworks reside in stylish vignettes. Clients visit by appointment and peruse items like Don Porcaro stone vessels and rare KAWS Companion sculptures; Brightwell also hosts salon-style gatherings. Part design historian/educator and host with the most, the shop owner says the relationships he forms take precedence over simply peddling products. Ultimately, Brightwell is building community–not just a client base. “People are doing such great things here in Dallas,” he says. “It’s all about what we can do together.”
