Thuma Goes Back To Its Roots With A San Francisco Showroom
With the recent opening of its second-ever showroom, Thuma now has a retail presence in San Francisco—the city where the modern furnishings company started. Head of Brand Alec Banks describes it as “somewhat of a dream come true. We’ve always envisioned creating physical spaces where customers can immerse themselves in the world of Thuma.” While the flagship is in New York, he continues, “We’re extremely excited to open a space in our home market, where we can bring design and hospitality to a community we already have in place and to continue to grow it even more.” The venue—a two-story 1907 building in the Marina District—has been transformed by architect and designer Stephan Wiemer while preserving its original charm. Across its 4,200 square feet, “Guests are free to explore at their own pace, moving between thoughtfully designed vignettes that set the tone for the rest of their visit,” Banks says. In the hands-on design studio, various product configurations are highlighted, from wood finishes to upholstery fabrics. Meanwhile, the first-floor café, which serves Equator Coffees and freshly made Neighbor Bakehouse pastries, adds to the showroom’s warm and welcoming atmosphere.
