This Storybook Arizona Home Emanates English Charm

Austin King of Rafterhouse brings a charming, storybook-inspired vision to this Arizona home, blending whimsical, vintage touches with a modern, livable design. After touring the abode, King sent his wife a video, half-jokingly proposing they buy the place. After more than a few signs from the stars, they did. King infused the space with character by incorporating soft, muted colorsa palette that designers predict will continue to be a popular choice for homeowners in 2025. natural textures and rustic details, such as reclaimed wood and vintage finds, alongside more modern design elements. The result is a warm, inviting home that evokes a sense of nostalgia within its relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, making it both a beautiful and practical sanctuary for the family.

For this Phoenix rambler, landscape architect Russell Greey designed a cottage-style garden with a coastal Mediterranean plant palette to withstand desert temperatures. Because the homeowners love roses, he wrapped the garden gate’s existing steel arch in the Pink Iceberg variety.

A Palm Beach Residence With Old-World Style

A Chicago couple, inspired by their decades of Floridian holidays, enlisted architect Stan Dixon and interior designer Margaret Kaywell to design a home that captured the nostalgic charm of old Palm Beach. Their goal was to create a house that felt timeless, as if it had evolved over a century and reflected a relaxed, family-oriented lifestyle. One standout space is the home's cocktail lounge, which exudes elegance with its peacock-blue walls, velvet banquettes and mirrored ceiling. Dr. Dre's Los Angeles home, a 3.6-acre hillside estate, combines the romantic allure of a French countryside château with modern luxury. Originally designed by architect Richard Landry, the mansion features a limestone façade, mansard roof and rustic elements like French oak floors and reclaimed brick ceilings. After purchasing the home, Dr. Dre brought the original design team back to modernize the interiors and essentially double the square footage through a subterranean expansion, adding a recording studio, spa, gym and an underground pool. The renovation balances contemporary edginess with timeless elegance, creating a serene sanctuary tailored to “The Next Episode” of Dr. Dre's life.

This Prewar Apartment Leans Into Chic Parisian Sensibilities

A prewar New York apartment was transformed into a more modern abode that blends the building's classic architectural details with contemporary flair. The homeowners, a couple with a love for sophisticated design, sought a space that felt both elegant and livable. Joan and Jayne Michaels, the sister duo behind 2Michaels Design, paired contemporary furnishings with vintage finds and custom pieces to achieve the desired look. The apartment features a neutral color palette, luxurious materials and carefully curated art, while maintaining the integrity of the building's original prewar charm.

The home’s Craftsman heritage remains, but the addition of clean lines, minimalist furnishings and subtle pops of color add a more modern feel. The farmhouse-esque abode is now a timeless traditional beauty with a fresh, contemporary twist.

Chaise lounges from RH line the head of the pool deck, where landscape architect Derrik Eichelberger redesigned all the paving. The open-concept layout emphasizes indoor-outdoor living, with large windows that invite ocean views and sea breezes.
