If walls could talk, they’d speak volumes covered in Rifle Paper Co.’s designs. From loose interpretations of classic themes in Champagne Dots and Fable, to playful takes on florals in Garden Party and chinoiserie motifs in Peacock, Rifle’s wallcoverings bring new life to everyday design.

The artisan brand finds a new home with York Wallcoverings, the largest wallpaper manufacturer in North America, who recently partnered with Rifle to present its debut collection of signature florals, expressive illustrations and custom-colored sisals.

Process

Botanicals to blooms, city maps to murals, the images gracing Rifle Paper Co.’s wallcoverings reflect the artistry of co-founder and chief creative officer Anna Bond, whose hand-painted illustrations are the heart and soul of the Winter Park, Florida-based brand.

Beginning with her gouache paintings, Anna embarks on a creative journey, adding vibrant color and characters and a dose of whimsy, to achieve the perfect blend of vintage modernity.

Patterns

Among Rifle’s most popular designs, Peacock, Garden Party and Camont are three in a long list: The latter inspired by an antique pattern from York Wallcoverings’ archives and one of Anna’s trips to an 18th-century farmhouse of the same name in Gascony, France. Think rustic chateaus, lemon trees and chickens in an antique setting.

In Peacock, more complex patterns come into play—a look achieved through a rotary screen-printing technique that captures the fine detailing and vibrancy of this eight-color print. Whether on a stairway wall, powder room or canvasing an entry, Rifle Paper Co.’s coverings punctuate with perfection.

“Mixing a bold floral with a more neutral, companion pattern is a great way to use wallpaper in multiple rooms of your home,” Anna says. “We like to layer patterns together that have the same color palette to keep things looking cohesive and intentional.”

Garden Party remains one of Rifle’s most popular prints, gracing everything from cards, party goods and fabrics … and now wallpaper. A bouquet of fruit and florals, it lightens up the mood in any space.

Perfect Fit

Since founding Rifle Paper Co. in 2009, Anna and Nathan have set out to build a brand of products that are well-designed, high-quality and accessible … making it a perfect fit for the York Wallcoverings’ portfolio.

“Our authentic handcrafting and artisanship date back over more than a century,” says DeAnna Hain, executive director of marketing for York Wallcoverings. “It is this design heritage, working hand in hand with the latest in modern technologies, which defines our portfolio as the most diverse within the wallpaper industry today.”
