White Palette, Artful Touches Brighten An NYC Abode

It was time to get personal.

After living in her Upper West Side home for 20 years, designer Jennifer Post decided it was time to customize her Apthorp building apartment to reflect her style.

“Finally, I had the time to do a gut renovation for myself and do full custom interiors that reflect my aesthetic: clean, crisp, soft yet elegant,” she says. “I’ve never lived in an apartment that I completely designed myself from the studs.”

The yearlong overhaul saw some layout changes–the former site of the master bedroom transformed into a walk-in closet, for example–as well as the incorporation of Post’s dream flooring: oversize slabs of Bianco Dolomiti marble.

A soft-white color palette carries throughout the home, accented by pops of color from decor accessories and the designer’s impressive contemporary art collection. The furniture pieces, too, play into the minimalist vibe of the space, while still keeping the rooms inviting.

“I only select extremely comfortable pieces–which, after my years doing this, I know how to choose very well,” says the design veteran.

The result is a bright, clean retreat where both homeowner and guests can find refuge after a long day.
