Featuring swaths of Calacatta gold marble, the existing refurbished kitchen that came with the home “was modern and bright but was not in tune with what we were trying to achieve,” explains Martinez. “It just felt too clinical.” The designer worked with builder Josh Grout to infuse more depth by re-staining the floors and base of the island in a deep, rich shade.
