A beautiful hazy sunset infused with shades of lavender informed Donna Vining’s master bedroom, where a Fortuny pattern-inspired wall application—masterfully crafted using paint and silver painted stencil— became the backdrop. Reflecting on how the large space would have been used originally, Vining created a seating area at the foot of the bed, where the lady of the house would have received her children and her staff, and selected a wingback chair and ottoman for a cozy fireside reading spot. “The architecture is timeless, and I selected items that would reflect that,” says Vining, who grouped two curule carved benches with a Louis XV settee and delicate antique papier-mâché tray coffee table.
