A simple staircase with a patterned runner welcomes visitors through the home's entryway.

Natural light fills the central stairwell thanks to a skylight created by architect Elissa Scrafano. There, Jacobson paired a walnut credenza from 1stdibs with a Danish-style oak stool. “We wanted the stair runner to be a focal point here,” says the designer of the two kilims she found at Jon’s Rugs and cleverly had sewn together.
