Residential designer Rick Berry devised a pair of wings that extend out from a Portland home’s central glass pavilion, embracing a terraced courtyard that follows the site’s gentle slope. Hardwood and acid-etched-concrete pathways and adze-finished granite patios help ease the transition from modern house to wild woodlands, as do the texture-rich plantings conceived by landscape architect Jonathan Beaver and his team.
