A throwback to the era in which the house was built, Donna Jarnigan’s inspirations were Art Deco, Hollywood glamour and the introduction of modernism. “I wanted this room to reflect the period’s grace and style, but with today’s comfort,” says the designer. A palette of soft taupes punched up with gold and silver soothes and beautifies the bedroom. A gold-leaf side table and a playful silver-and-black striped chest of drawers flank the luxurious silk-covered bed. Velvet and silk draperies adorn but don’t obstruct the windows. Jarnigan continued the look with a ready-for-its-close-up seating area. Light hues in the rug and the bed fabric keep the room airy. “I love how the different pieces, antique and new, blend so well,” says Jarnigan.
