Jane-Page Crump transformed the living room into an elegant space with warmth and conviviality. “I desired to create a gathering spot that would draw people in,” says Crump, who conjured a fresh palette to play off the sunlit space and softened the original elements—a heavy fireplace mantel flanked by wood-trimmed windows—with delicate, contemporary notes. The starting point was her selection of sheer citron striped drapery. “The curtains are light enough to offset, and embrace, the room’s wood features,” she explains. Two curved sofas covered in a gray herringbone fabric frame the fireplace, while a velvet citron ottoman and accent pillows provide a colorful foil. The acrylic cocktail table was selected for its transparent view through to the fireplace’s architectural details. In one corner, ghost chairs pull up to an antique game table, proving that contemporary and antiques can play nicely together. “I love the combinations,” says Crump. “The room makes you feel good with its cheery fabrics and colors.
